I’m diagnosed with Schizophrenia and can I say, I’m really tired of every story I hear about relationships with people like me ending with-The significant other leaving for their saftey as soon as the diagnosis is known, or The person with Schizophrenia being wholly dependent on, aggressive to, or otherwise unhealthy for their SO.

Yes, sometimes we are not in a good place to be in a reationship and, yes if the relationship is unhealthy the SO has every right to leave.

But we’re not all like that , we love, and care about our loved ones, we are not violent or dangerous- statistically we are more likely to be victims of violence and abuse than we are to be perpetrators.

Please just, know that if you love someone and they tell you they’re schizophrenic, thats not your cue to bail and put your “I almost dated a Psycho” story on the internet. We’ve got a lot of love to give, give us a chance you weenies.
